Easter

So, we did the normal..'take pictures of the easter outfits' on sunday morning. It went pretty good, considering the fact that "NOBODY" tells Gus what to do, and that includes hold still for pictures.

Apparently Brooklyn had had enough after just a few shots....so, I took the clue and ended the photo session.

We really had an enjoyable day! I even tried to take the opportunity to try and teach Brooklyn the "TRUE" meaning of Easter with an Easter Egg lesson that my sister-in-law Gretchen found. It started well, until I asked her if she knew who Jesus was. She said yes..I told her He was her brother. A little confused...and then she asked if he died. I answered yes, to which she said...but I don't want him to be dead. I said, It's ok, he's not anymore!

Easter Eggs

So, this is the first time as a family that we have colored eggs together. I can't even tell you the last time I have even done this. Brooklyn and Brison had been outside playing with friends and cousing for a good 2 hours before they came inside to do this, and Brison was NOT a happy camper about having to come in. I decided not to let him anywhere near the dye, because when he doesn't get his way, he throws a fit and THROWS himself back, and I could just see the damage and mess that he would make! It was fun to see Brooklyn examining the eggs and waiting for the color to absorb. I just don't know what we will do with them now, because I can't see Brooklyn sinking her teeth into a hard boiled egg, I only like mine in salad, Brian can only eat one a day on his diet, and I don't think he'll want one hard boiled, and Brison is allergic so he will throw up EVERYWHERE! That's the reason I only made 6...we lost one during the transition from carton to dye. I think as the kids get older, it will be more fun to do things like this with them more often. I am kinda a slacker that way, I just think the kids are too little to understand, be patient, listen, or observe. Maybe I need to give them the benefit of the doubt. We had fun anyway!

Birthday Boy!

We celebrated Brian's birthday Saturday. After having a young women/young men activity at my house that morning, and once Brian was done with his football scrimage..we decided to go out and do something as a family. We went bowling. My mom and Allison came along as well. It was fun and the kids had a blast! Brison hated sharing or taking turns...and Brooklyn was just happy to be there and she wanted her own ball! It really is AMAZING how much the Wii takes your really good skills and turns them to crap!

HIGHEST SCORES EVER!!

Yes, it's blurry on purpose....love the action shots!

They would do this after Brooklyn would bowl...while they waited for the ball to get DOWN the lane and hit the pins. Yes, it took THAT long!
Gus was just excited to get to carry the ball!

That's Dr. Brooklyn to you.

So, one of the MANY joys of being a girl is a bladder infection. Most girls know that.

Brooklyn is a girl. Brooklyn recently got a bladder infection. We went to the doctor on Friday for the 'official diagnosis'. It was confirmed. This is our story.
On the way to the doctor, Brooklyn asked me if she could tell the doctor what was wrong. I told her yes, and was surprised about her enthuaism about going to the doctor. We get to the office and are called back. The nurse is in the room asking me some information and Brooklyn whispers to me, "mom, can I tell the doctor what's wrong?" I tell her yes, when the doctor comes in, and that this is the nurse and she just gets information. As we are sitting in the office, Brooklyn asked if she could sit on the round stool. I tell her yes. She scoots up to the computer and turns to me and asks..."So, what's wrong with you today?" It never ceases to amaze me the things that she comes up with. I laugh, and quickly grab my phone. She sits there for a bit and when the doctor comes in she quickly moves over to the bench. I tell him what she had just been doing and he laughed, because that is just cute stuff...and she is immediately embarassed and gives her dirty look and hides her face. The real doctor feels bad and gives her his stethascope. She is trying to listen to my heart, and to her heart..to which she responds...I don't hear anything. I guess we need a little more schooling for the actual "Dr." part. The doctor is talking to me about the symptoms and cures and Brooklyn whispers to me..."Mom, I want to tell him what's wrong". I tell the doctor that she wants to tell him what's wrong. He turns to her and gives her his undivided attention. She proudly exclaims...."when I go pee it hurts real bad."

I guess i'd better open a dedicated savings for medical school.

Yes, it took me that long to get over it.

So i'm back. The whole writing on the wall thing really got to me...or I just didn't realize it has been a month. Sorry.
Last Monday, Gretchen and I decided to take the kids out for an escape from the winter stink of the house. We decided we would take the kids to see Monsters vs. Aliens.

It was a pretty cute movie, Lauren was a little scared, but then immeditely pretended not to be because when the credits started rolling, she exclaimed..."let's do that again mom".
I thought for sure that Brooklyn wouldn't be able to handle the movie because she has been saying lately that she is afraid of monsters. I thought we would take a chance anyway.

We didn't even make it to the movie before she was frightened out of her mind...and i'm pretty sure she crapped her pants.

It was the preview for 'Land of the Lost' with Will Farrell. During the preview, there is a dinosaur that creeps up to Will's character and he is deeply breathing right behind his head...and as the preview darkens, the dinosaur does the blood curdeling growl. Well, you know how in the movies, when people get scared, the throw popcorn. That is exactly what Brooklyn did! She was holding a cup of popcorn and it went in the air..and she threw herself back in her chair and covered her eyes...all in about .035 seconds. It was the FUNNIEST thing I have ever seen. It took me about 2 minutes of laughing and crying to be able to ask her if she was o.k. So, needless to say, the movie wasn't scary at all!
