A visit from an old friend

Not that she's old...we've just been friends since elementary school.
My friend Megan came up from Tooele to have lunch and "hang out" and catch up. I haven't seen her for at LEAST 3 years.

We went to dances together in high school. (we didn't get our pictures taken together, we were poor!)
(Yes, she married her high school sweetheart!)
Her kids are so big! I can't imagine! Her daughter, Kyra, is 15!!! Can you believe that? Could you imagine me having a 15 year old? Could you imagine Brooklyn being 15?! Heaven help us all...because that day will come...hopefully not too soon! Her son Josh is 13...Jared is 8 and Abby is 6.
My family was going on vacation to St. George, and it was right around the time that Megan had Kyra...so I remember we stopped in to say Hi and see her.
I remember driving to Battle Mountain, NV to see Josh when he was born.
I remember visiting her in the hospital when she was put on bed rest when she was pregnant with Jared. He was the cutest little premie baby I had ever seen.
I visited her in Tooele when she had Abby. It was fun catching up with her.
It's sad how our lives get so busy and we loose track of friends that we have had for so long, but luckily, we have been friends for so long that it's good to see each other again! Josh and Jared and Abby were so cute playing with Brooklyn & Brison. Brison would try to pick up Josh and Jared and he was grunt and then step back and say "heavy!"
They were fun. Kyra is such a pretty young woman! She'll be driving soon and dating and I think Megan is freaking out over that! I told Kyra when she was old enough and driving, she could come over and I would let her read all the notes that me and Megan wrote each other in high school and junior high. Yes, I still have some of them. I even have the letters that Matt (her husband) wrote me when he moved to Washington for a while. Oh, the memories of growing up and the things we did! Megan told me that those were CONFIDENTIAL and that I couldn't share. Well, you're not my mom...and I never did anything you told me to before!
She's probably going to kill me for those pictures...but I was just sitting here thinking, I probably have some old pictures of her! HA!

SWIMMING!

Monday, instead of boating, we decided to go to the Roy Aquatic Center.
(we didn't have enough people to go boating)
Allison and I took the kids and had a blast!
Brooklyn was a fish, as usual, and Brison did a little bit better than the whole "sprinkler catastrophie"
There was plenty of water, sun, and food all around.

Brison seemed to have fun. He would walk around in the water, but as the water got deeper, and as he lost his balance easier, he would get down and crawl...which is interesting, because it was usually in the deeper end. He really enjoyed himself, and loved to splash and he did go down both the little, little kid slide and the little, bigger kid slide...albeit, I had to PUSH him down it..but hey, he went down. He just didn't like the playground that much because of all the splashing.
Brooklyn. What can I say about Brooklyn? She is such the dare devil...she went down the slide, backwards, on purpose..and would just off the side of the pool into the water. She would stand on the sign that says "No Diving!". What can I say? She's too little to read!
I was playing with Brison while she was playing on the "toy area". I would look for her every minute or so to make sure she hadn't drown or anything. After a while, I couldn't see her anymore. I got up and started walking around and scanning all the faces of all the little kids there. Finally I found her talking to a boy who looked to be around 6 or 7. She saw me and said "Hi mom! I'm just playing with my friends!" Yeah, she was in 3 foot deep water...just playing with her friends.! That girl!

On the way home, I knew that he was going to pass out. We were gone all during his nap time and he played hard. The above pictures are pictures of him being as asleep as you can be without being declared legally dead! He even fell asleep with food in his mouth!
This is what happens when you are so tired and asleep and your evil aunt Allison is over, and she think's she is funny. Although, I will admit, I was laughing too!
Can you say "BLACKMAIL!"

Dinosaur Park & SPRINKLERS!

For the summer, I was able to switch my schedule at work. I usually work EVERY saturday, and it normally isn't a problem. Well, I decided that it might be fun since the kids are getting a little older, to go out with them as a family and spend some time together. My first saturday off, we slept in a little too late and it rained almost the whole day, until Brian had to go to his football game. So, at first, I was thinking that changing my schedule wasn't going to pay off. This last saturday, we tried really hard to get out and do something. In talking to Brian, we decided that we would go to the Dinosaur Park with the kids. He had heard that it was fun, and I had never taken the kids there, so we thought we'd give it a shot. We were there for about an hour, and Brian and I were completely BORED out of our minds. The kids had fun, but all I could think was, "it cost HOW MUCH to get in?" Here are some pictures:

Later that day, Brian left for his football game and I got out the sprinkler! Brooklyn LOVES water, and was having a blast. Brison on the other hand, well, i'll let you decide for yourself!

Just so you can see, he did EVENTUALLY warm up to the water...well, kinda.

At least they were super cute while sharing Brison's popcicle. Hopefully by the end of summer he will MAN up and not be so scared of the big, bad, scary water!
P.S. Note to self: Sprinklers, fun and cheap. Dinosaur park, expensive and boring.

I scream, you scream

Last year, with Brooklyn's birthday, I decided to start a tradition of going and getting ice cream for a birthday. Luckily, I remembered it this year! If you join the birthday club at Cold Stone you can get a "like it" size with 1 mix in for FREE! So, I printed off my coupon and tonight was the night we went and got ice cream! It was sooooo good! Sweet cream with toasted coconut and pecans! Delicious! Brooklyn got chocolate with sprinkles and Allison got Cake Batter with toasted coconut and almonds. I think we all enjoyed it!
